TV Show Creator Angela Marie Hutchinson Teams Up with Sony Music Producers to Write the Theme Song for a New Talk Show, ‘Asking for a Friend,’ Hosted by Vanessa Simmons

Los Angeles, Calif. (January 26, 2021) – Songwriter, film, and television producer, and screenwriter, Angela Marie Hutchinson, has teamed up with Grammy-nominated music producers, Bruce and Ebony Vanderveer of Inrage Entertainment. Hutchinson wrote the theme song with the Vanderveers for Vanessa Simmons’ new talk show, ‘Asking for a Friend.’

The digital series premieres on January 28 on Facebook through its We the Culture program, an initiative that celebrates and uplifts black storytellers. ‘Asking for a Friend’ airs weekly every Thursday on Simmons’ public figure page. 

According to Hutchinson, ‘Asking for a Friend’ is an avenue for diverse audiences to engage in intimate conversations about the issues that matter to them. I’m especially passionate about amplifying the voices of black women and this show provides an opportunity to connect and share our experiences,” says Hutchinson, who is the show creator and an executive producer.

“We were thrilled when Angela approached us about producing the theme song for Vanessa Simmons’ new show,” says the Vanderveer’s, who is signed by Sony Music.

The song is performed by Ebony Vanderveer. “Ebony’s voice captures the essence of the talk show’s mission to evoke curiosity,” says Hutchinson.

‘Asking for a Friend’ is produced by FBE, an award-winning multiplatform company. Executive producers include Marc Hustvedt, CEO of FBE, Nneka Enurah, Head of Development and Partnerships at FBE, Angela Marie Hutchinson, Vanessa Simmons, and Amber Mike. 

Hutchinson and the Vanderveers have collaborated on numerous film and television projects, including UMC’s dramedy series, “Diva Diaries,” along with the feature film, “Hollywood Chaos,” written and produced by Hutchinson, and currently streams on Peacock. 

 Prior to ‘Asking for a Friend,’ Hutchinson appeared as a secret voice (The Poet) on FOX’s new lip sync competition show, “I Can See Your Voice.” Hutchinson recently penned the original new holiday movie, “A Christmas for Mary,” for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network which airs through January. Hutchinson is also the author of Create Your Yes!, a book based on her TEDx Talk.  The audio version of her book releases on March 23, 2021, with Penguin Random House Audio. Additionally, Hutchinson serves as an adjunct social media professor at Loyola Marymount University.
