‘Asking for a Friend’ Creator and Executive Producer Angela Marie Hutchinson Lands Audio Book Release with Penguin Random House Audio

Los Angeles, Calif. (March 8, 2021) – Producer and screenwriter Angela Marie Hutchinson delivered a popular TEDx Talk, “Create Your Own Yes, When You Keep Hearing No,” which landed her a book deal with Sourcebooks in 2019. Now, Penguin Random House Audio will release the audio version of her book, “Create Your Yes!” on March 23, 2021.

Hutchinson is the creator and executive producer of the new Facebook Watch series, “Asking for a Friend,” a talk show hosted by Vanessa Simmons. The show addresses a range of topics including toxic relationships, politics, body image, and other issues that speak to black women and diverse audiences. The Facebook Watch series launched through Facebook’s We the Culture initiative, which Will Smith is also a part of to support diverse voices.

“I am passionate about amplifying the voices of black women, especially moms,” says Hutchinson who is a mother of three young children.

“The show provides a platform to celebrate diverse voices and especially black women to champion black women, allowing us to not express their opinions and gain insights from top experts on an array of subjects that matter to us,” says Hutchinson.

“As a mother of three kiddos and wife, it is extremely difficult to find balance in my day and to please everyone while still making time to achieve my personal and professional goals,” says Hutchinson. She adds, “One of the reasons I’m genuinely excited about the ‘Asking for a Friend’ is because Vanessa dives right into untraditional subject matters, such as childbirth from the experience as a black woman. My first childbirth experience was horrible, and Vanessa also had an uncomfortable birthing situation, but our hardships are an opportunity to elevate black women.”

Angela talks more about how she turned a negative birthing experience into an uplifting moment to inspire others in her TEDx Talk.

Prior to Hutchinson’s recent accolade, Hutchinson wrote an original new holiday movie for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network entitled, “A Christmas for Mary,” starring Vivica Fox, Jackée Harry, and Morgan Dixon.

Additionally, Hutchinson also serves as an adjunct social media professor at Loyola Marymount University. Hutchinson also serves as the founder of Breaking into Hollywood, a non-profit organization that has served entertainment professionals with elevating their careers since 2005.
